1996 Porsche 993 Cabriolet *** SOLD ***

18. October, 2015

993 is Porsche’s internal designation code for the 911 model manufactured and sold between 1995 and early 1998 replacing the 964. Its discontinuation marked the end of air-cooled Porsches, with the 993 being not just the last air-cooled 911, but also the last of the hand built 911s.  The 993 generation of the 911 is often referred to as the best and most desirable of the 911 series, not only because of its beauty, but also because its performance is incredible even by todays standards. The 993 was considered by many enthusiasts to be the last fresh breath of air that Porsche gave the world, elegance and performance all in one package.

The 993 was the first generation of  the 911 to have a standard six-speed manual transmission; previous cars, except for the Porsche 959, had a 4 or 5-speed transmission. Due to this it is virtually possible to keep the engine in its best torque range above 4500 rpm. Coupled with the Varioram system, which added additional power, particularly in the mid-ranges,  also resulted in a more throaty noise at higher revs. As a consequence, the 1996-1998 Varioram 993s put out 285 horsepower. This resulted in a 15% increase in horsepower over its 964 predecessor.

The Cabriolet, introduced in 1994 for the 1995 model year, features a fully electrical and hand-stitched soft-top reinforced with metal sheets and an automatic wind-blocker. On the rear of the Cabriolet a small spoiler is mounted with the 3rd braking light.  In total the production numbers for the Cabriolet are much smaller than the 993 Carrera coupe versions. On average a high percentage of the total Cabriolets produced ended up in the US.

This particular 96′ 993 Cabriolet ordered with a Polar Silver exterior and a Midnite Blue leather interior has been extremely well cared for and is a beautiful example of what every Porsche enthusiast is looking for in a 993. It was optioned with a limited slip with ABD ( Automatic Brake Differential)  17″ Cup wheels, Power Seat Package, Motor Sound Package and a Wind Deflector with a color matching Tonneau cover. A set of Bilstein ps 10 coil over adjustable shocks have been installed to enhance the already incredible performance and handling of the 993.

Servicing performed within the last 100 miles includes, A major service, new brakes and a new clutch. No expense has been spared in the care and maintenance of this beautiful and impressive 993 Cabriolet.
