1964 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet ***SOLD***

5. July, 2015

One of the last examples of a Reutter produced 356, this 1964 356 C Cabriolet was a Canadian delivered car, featuring European gauges, heat exchangers and more. About half of the more than 76,000 Porsche 356s ever produced are believed to still exist today. More than 14,000 of that total were produced in 1964, alongside this example. By the time this car was produced the basic 356 design was more than 15 years old. This meant that although the world was ready for the 911’s introduction, the 356 had evolved and developed into a car with modern technology ( for its time) and a high level of sophistication. This included Ate four wheel disc brakes as a standard which would be of great benefit in stopping the car from a new for 1964 top speed of 125 mph.

Representing the ultimate evolution of the basic 356, the 356C was produced until September 1965, when both the all-new 911 and 356-powered 912 succeeded it.

This car , chassis #160882, engine #702292 ( a 1962 1600S engine) was refurbished in 2007. Some of the work performed at that time included, a complete engine rebuild, new brakes, and transmission service. Prior to 2007 the floor pans were replaced along with front fender and nose.

The car not only looks incredible, but it drives and handles like few other 356’s you may see available today.
